TERMS &
CONDITIONS
TELFORD REMAPPING
Terms & Conditions of Vehicle Tuning and Related Services
Effective from: September 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to services supplied by Telford Remapping (“we”, “us”, “our”) to the vehicle owner, keeper or authorised person requesting the work (“you”, “your”, “the Customer”).
By instructing us to carry out work, presenting a vehicle for work, or authorising work to commence, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
These Terms do not affect any statutory rights which cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
01CUSTOMER AUTHORITY
You confirm that:
- you are the legal owner, registered keeper, or have the owner's authority to authorise work on the vehicle;

03VEHICLE CONDITION
Performance tuning places additional demand on the engine, gearbox, clutch, turbocharger, cooling system, fuel system, drivetrain and other components.
You are responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is mechanically suitable for the requested modification.
We strongly recommend that vehicles are correctly serviced and maintained before tuning.
Where appropriate, we may carry out diagnostic checks before tuning. These checks are intended to identify readily apparent issues and do not constitute a complete mechanical inspection or guarantee of the condition of the vehicle.
A vehicle passing a diagnostic scan does not mean that every mechanical or electrical component is fault-free.
We may refuse or postpone tuning where we reasonably consider the vehicle unsuitable.
04PRE-EXISTING AND LATENT FAULTS
Vehicle tuning can expose or accelerate symptoms from components which are already worn, deteriorated, marginal or defective.
Examples include:
- turbocharger failure or excessive wear;
- clutch slip;
- dual-mass flywheel wear;
- gearbox or transmission faults;
- injector problems;
- high-pressure or low-pressure fuel-system problems;
- ignition coils and spark plugs;
- cooling-system faults;
- boost leaks;
- timing-chain/belt problems;
- engine internal wear;
- DPF problems;
- EGR faults;
- catalytic-converter faults;
- GPF/OPF faults;
- AdBlue/SCR faults;
- sensors and actuators;
- batteries and charging systems.
We are not responsible for the failure of a component merely because the failure occurs during or following tuning.
This does not exclude our responsibility where loss or damage was caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill or by another breach for which we are legally responsible.
05PERFORMANCE FIGURES
Any horsepower, torque, fuel-economy or performance figures quoted are estimates unless expressly supported by a measurement carried out on the particular vehicle.
Actual results vary according to factors including:
- vehicle condition;
- engine and gearbox condition;
- fuel quality;
- ambient temperature;
- factory tolerances;
- previous modifications;
- software version;
- supporting hardware; and
- vehicle mileage.
Manufacturer-standard figures are also reference figures and individual vehicles may produce more or less power.
We do not guarantee an exact horsepower or torque increase unless expressly agreed in writing.
06DYNO AND ROAD TESTING
Where reasonably required, you authorise us to operate and road-test the vehicle for diagnostic, verification and quality-control purposes.
Where dyno testing is specifically agreed, you acknowledge that the vehicle will be operated under significant load.
All testing will be performed with reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for a failure caused by an existing or latent defect which becomes apparent during reasonable testing, but nothing in these Terms excludes our responsibility for damage caused by our negligence or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.
07ECU/TCU PROGRAMMING RISKS
Modern vehicle control units can require software reading, writing, unlocking, coding or programming.
Although professional equipment and procedures are used, electronic programming inherently involves risks including:
- interrupted programming;
- low vehicle voltage;
- communication failure;
- pre-existing ECU/TCU memory faults;
- previously modified or corrupted software;
- control-unit failure;
- manufacturer security restrictions; and
- loss of communication with a control unit.
Suitable battery support will be used where reasonably required.
If a control unit fails solely because of a pre-existing defect or circumstances outside our reasonable control, additional recovery or replacement work may be chargeable.
This clause does not exclude liability where the failure was caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.
08ORIGINAL SOFTWARE
Where technically possible and appropriate, the vehicle's original calibration may be retained.
However, we cannot guarantee indefinitely that original software files will remain available.
Manufacturer/dealer software updates may overwrite an aftermarket calibration.
If a dealer, manufacturer, third party or subsequent software update removes or overwrites our calibration, reinstallation may be chargeable.
09MANUFACTURER WARRANTY
ECU, TCU and other vehicle modifications may be detectable by the vehicle manufacturer or dealer, even where the vehicle is subsequently returned to standard software.
A modification may affect or invalidate:
- manufacturer warranty;
- extended warranty;
- aftermarket warranty;
- service plans;
- goodwill claims;
- finance or lease conditions.
The Customer is responsible for checking the terms of any warranty, finance, lease or other agreement before authorising modifications.
Telford Remapping does not guarantee that a modification will be undetectable by a manufacturer or dealer.
10INSURANCE
Vehicle modifications may need to be declared to your insurer.
This may include ECU remapping, gearbox tuning, performance modifications and other changes.
It is the Customer's responsibility to notify their insurer and obtain any necessary approval.
Telford Remapping accepts no responsibility for insurance being cancelled, invalidated or affected where the Customer fails to disclose a modification.
11ROAD LEGALITY
The Customer is responsible for ensuring that their vehicle remains legal and suitable for its intended use.
A performance modification does not automatically mean that a vehicle is illegal for road use. However, modifications affecting emissions, safety, noise or other regulated characteristics may affect road legality.
We reserve the right to refuse any requested modification that we reasonably believe would be unlawful for the proposed use of the vehicle.
12EMISSIONS CONTROL SYSTEMS
This section applies to services involving systems including:
- DPF – Diesel Particulate Filter
- GPF/OPF – Gasoline/Petrol Particulate Filter
- EGR – Exhaust Gas Recirculation
- SCR/AdBlue
- catalytic converters
- NOx control systems
- emissions monitoring systems
- associated sensors and software
UK law places restrictions on vehicles being used on public roads where modifications cause them no longer to comply with applicable emissions requirements.
A vehicle may also fail an MOT where manufacturer-fitted emissions-control equipment is missing, obviously modified, obviously defective or, in applicable cases, shows evidence of tampering.
Telford Remapping does not represent an emissions-control removal, bypass or defeat modification as being legal for normal public-road use merely because it is described as “off-road use only”.
Where an emissions-related modification is supplied for a legitimate non-road application, motorsport, export or another lawful purpose, the Customer is responsible for ensuring that the vehicle is used only in circumstances in which that modification is lawful.
We reserve the right to refuse any emissions-related modification.
13MOT TESTING
A vehicle passing an MOT does not necessarily establish that every modification made to the vehicle is lawful.
Likewise, we do not guarantee that a modified vehicle will pass an MOT.
Where a modification affects equipment inspected as part of an MOT, the vehicle may fail.
The Customer remains responsible for maintaining the vehicle in a roadworthy and legally compliant condition.
14CUSTOMER-REQUESTED FEATURES
Certain calibration features can place significantly greater stress on components.
These may include, where applicable:
- launch control modifications;
- hard-cut limiters;
- increased rev limits;
- increased torque limits;
- exhaust sound features;
- overrun strategies;
- other performance features.
Where such a feature is requested, the Customer acknowledges that its use may increase mechanical wear, exhaust temperature or stress on engine, turbocharger, transmission, exhaust and drivetrain components.
The Customer remains responsible for how the vehicle and these features are used.
15MODIFIED VEHICLES
Where a vehicle has aftermarket hardware installed, including upgraded turbochargers, intake systems, exhausts, intercoolers, injectors or other modifications, the Customer must disclose these before tuning.
The Customer is responsible for ensuring that aftermarket components are correctly installed and suitable for the intended application.
We are not responsible for defects in third-party components or their installation unless we supplied or installed the relevant component and are legally responsible for the defect.
16FUEL REQUIREMENTS
Some calibrations require a particular minimum fuel grade.
Where we specify a fuel requirement, the Customer must follow it.
Using fuel below the specified octane/cetane rating or unsuitable fuel may cause reduced performance, ignition correction, engine knock, component damage or other problems.
17SERVICING AND MAINTENANCE
A tuned vehicle may require more frequent maintenance depending on its specification and use.
The Customer is responsible for maintaining suitable:
- engine oil;
- filters;
- spark plugs;
- cooling system;
- transmission servicing;
- fuel quality; and
- other relevant maintenance items.
Manufacturer service intervals should not necessarily be regarded as optimal for every modified or heavily used vehicle.
18DRIVING STYLE AND MISUSE
We are not responsible for damage resulting from misuse, abuse or operation outside reasonable limits after the vehicle leaves our control.
Examples may include:
- repeated operation from cold;
- prolonged excessive engine speed;
- insufficient oil or coolant;
- continued driving following a warning light;
- racing or competition use;
- inappropriate launch-control use;
- excessive wheelspin;
- unsuitable fuel;
- ignoring symptoms of a developing fault.
19AFTERMARKET PARTS
Where aftermarket parts are supplied by the Customer, we do not warrant those parts.
Any warranty claim relating to a Customer-supplied component must normally be pursued with the supplier or manufacturer of that component.
Additional labour required to remove, diagnose or replace a failed Customer-supplied component may be chargeable.
20PAYMENT
Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due upon completion of the work and before release of the vehicle.
We may require a deposit or advance payment for:
- custom tuning;
- specialist software;
- ordered parts;
- ECU unlocking;
- third-party services;
- remote services; or
- substantial bookings.
Any deposit terms will be explained at the time of booking.
21REFUNDS AND REMEDIES
Because tuning involves providing a service and may involve bespoke work for an individual vehicle, refunds are considered according to the circumstances and the Customer's applicable statutory rights.
We do not operate a blanket “no refunds under any circumstances” policy.
Where our service has not been performed with reasonable care and skill or does not conform to the contract, the Customer retains the remedies provided by applicable UK consumer law.
A Customer changing their mind after a correctly supplied and completed service does not automatically entitle them to a refund, subject to any applicable statutory cancellation rights.
22RETURNING A VEHICLE TO STANDARD
Where technically possible, we may offer to return a vehicle to its original calibration.
Unless otherwise stated in writing as part of a promotion or guarantee, additional work required to return a vehicle to standard may be chargeable.
Returning software to standard does not guarantee that previous tuning or programming cannot be detected by a manufacturer or other party.
23DISTANCE AND OFF-PREMISES BOOKINGS
Where a consumer enters into a qualifying distance or off-premises service contract, statutory cancellation rights may apply.
Where applicable, the consumer normally has 14 days from entering into the service contract to cancel.
If the Customer expressly asks us to begin providing the service during that cancellation period, the Customer may be required to pay for services supplied before cancellation.
Where the service has been fully performed during the cancellation period following the Customer's express request and acknowledgement, the statutory right to cancel may be lost where the applicable legal requirements have been satisfied.
Nothing in these Terms removes a statutory cancellation right where one applies.
24CANCELLATIONS AND MISSED APPOINTMENTS
We ask Customers to provide reasonable notice when cancelling or rearranging an appointment.
Where a genuine, clearly disclosed booking deposit has been taken, deductions or retention of that deposit will only be made where legally permissible and reasonable in relation to the circumstances and losses incurred.
Specially ordered parts, externally purchased software or other bespoke costs already incurred may be chargeable where legally permissible.
25VEHICLES LEFT ON THE PREMISES
Customers should collect vehicles promptly after being informed that work is complete.
Where a vehicle is left for an unreasonable period after reasonable requests for collection, we reserve the right to charge reasonable storage costs, provided the Customer has been given appropriate notice of those charges.
26PERSONAL PROPERTY
Customers should remove valuables and unnecessary personal property before leaving a vehicle with us.
We will exercise reasonable care while a vehicle is in our possession but cannot accept responsibility for loss unrelated to any act or omission on our part.
27THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Certain specialist operations may involve reputable third-party suppliers, including ECU unlocking or specialist calibration services.
Where this is necessary, relevant vehicle/software information may be supplied to that provider.
We remain responsible for our obligations to the Customer where required by law and do not use this clause to exclude liability merely because a subcontractor has been used.
28DATA AND SOFTWARE
We may record information including:
- vehicle registration;
- VIN;
- make and model;
- ECU/TCU identification;
- software numbers;
- diagnostic information;
- original calibration;
- modified calibration;
- mileage;
- work performed; and
- Customer contact information.
Information will be handled in accordance with applicable UK data-protection law and our privacy practices.
29LIABILITY
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability where doing so would be unlawful.
In particular, nothing excludes or restricts liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- failure to exercise reasonable care and skill where liability cannot legally be excluded; or
- any other liability which cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
Subject to those protections, we are not responsible for loss or damage which:
- was not caused by our breach of contract or negligence;
- results from a pre-existing or latent vehicle defect;
- results from Customer misuse;
- results from failure to follow advice provided;
- results from an unrelated component failure;
- results from work or modifications subsequently performed by another person; or
- was not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was entered into.
Nothing in this section affects a consumer's statutory rights.
30BUSINESS CUSTOMERS
Where the Customer is acting wholly or mainly for purposes relating to their trade, business, craft or profession, they will be treated as a business customer rather than a consumer.
Different statutory rules may apply to business-to-business contracts.
Where legally permitted, any additional commercial terms agreed between Telford Remapping and a trade customer will form part of the contract.
31CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY AFTER TUNING
Following completion of the work, the Customer is responsible for:
- monitoring the vehicle for warning lights or unusual behaviour;
- maintaining appropriate fluid levels;
- using appropriate fuel;
- following any instructions provided;
- stopping use of the vehicle where a potentially serious fault occurs;
- maintaining the vehicle correctly;
- informing insurers of modifications where required; and
- ensuring continued roadworthiness and legal compliance.
If a problem develops after tuning, the Customer should contact us as soon as reasonably practicable so that the issue can be investigated.
32NO GUARANTEE AGAINST FUTURE FAILURE
Tuning does not constitute a mechanical warranty for the engine, gearbox, turbocharger, drivetrain or any other vehicle component.
Unless we expressly provide a separate written warranty, we do not guarantee that a vehicle or component will remain fault-free following tuning.
This does not affect the Customer's rights where a problem has been caused by a service we have failed to perform with reasonable care and skill.
33CHANGES BY MANUFACTURERS
Vehicle manufacturers may introduce:
- software updates;
- anti-tuning measures;
- ECU locks;
- cybersecurity protection;
- diagnostic detection methods; or
- changes to vehicle functionality.
We cannot guarantee that a modification will remain compatible with future manufacturer software or systems.
Manufacturer updates may remove or alter aftermarket programming.
34FORCE MAJEURE / EVENTS OUTSIDE REASONABLE CONTROL
We will not be responsible for delay or failure caused by circumstances genuinely outside our reasonable control, subject to the Customer's applicable statutory rights.
Where such circumstances significantly affect the service, we will take reasonable steps to communicate with the Customer and minimise disruption.
35COMPLAINTS
If you are dissatisfied with a service, please contact Telford Remapping as soon as reasonably practicable and give us a reasonable opportunity to investigate.
Where appropriate, we may inspect the vehicle, diagnostic information and calibration before determining the appropriate remedy.
Nothing in this section removes or restricts the Customer's statutory remedies.
36SEVERABILITY
If any provision of these Terms is found by a court or other competent authority to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
37GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the applicable laws of England and Wales.
Nothing in this clause deprives a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom of any mandatory legal protections or rights to bring proceedings which they are entitled to under applicable law.
